A garden design for nature
Passionate about wildlife, the client had recently moved into a new house and wanted to turn the existing uninspired garden into a haven for wildlife, but also a garden to enjoy and relax amongst nature.
The garden design features several habitats; a small wildlife pond, several new trees and a depth of naturalistic meadow-like planting that weaves and drifts through the design. There was also a strong emphasis on blending native varieties of trees, shrubs and perennials with cultivated varieties to provide a rich habitat for maximum biodiversity while also providing prolonged interest through the seasons.
Natural sandstone has been used across the garden design including the main terrace, helping to blend the looseness and wildness of the planting with the earthy tones of the paving. A second small circular seating area, accessed via stepping stones through the planting, is tucked away in one corner of the garden. This creates a secluded and revitalising spot enveloped amongst the planting to enjoy the afternoon sun with a cup of tea.
